In California in 2089, water scarcity shapes everyday life while corporations sell licensed sensory memories of rain, lakes, rivers, and oceans to people who may never experience them for themselves.

In Sacramento Deep, former detective Jonah Voss investigates a missing infrastructure worker whose digital trail does not match the physical evidence. At the same time, a loose network of younger cyberpunk specialists uncovers strange connections buried inside corporate systems, identity records, and aging technology that was never truly shut down.

Their investigations are separate, but both begin pointing toward the same unsettling possibility: California’s water crisis may be less natural than everyone has been told.

As old infrastructure, corrupted records, and corporate ownership begin to overlap, the search for one missing man grows into a larger cyberpunk mystery about water control, memory technology, and the systems that decide what people are allowed to have — and what they are willing to pay just to remember.
