Mika “Spark” Tanaka is an independent access specialist who excels at getting through the first layer of secured environments. Maglocks, cameras, alarms, credentials, maintenance panels, and patched-together service networks are where she does her best work, especially when the hardware is old or poorly maintained.
Quick, restless, and highly improvisational, Mika prefers solving problems in motion rather than planning every possibility in advance. She is talkative when relaxed, much quieter when concentrating, and enjoys beating systems more than embarrassing the people behind them.
Mika learned outside the corporate world by taking apart transit access, cheap locks, secondhand electronics, obsolete security hardware, and anything else she could get her hands on. She discovered early that expensive security often depended on surprisingly ordinary weak points.
She has no grand cause driving her underground. Mika simply became very good at doing something sanctioned systems would rather she could not do. Where most people see a locked door, she sees the assumptions keeping it locked.
