The Vowkeeper’s Silver Locket is one of the most disturbing relics associated with The Hollow Echo. It appears in the Un-Place during Michiru’s encounter with the Vowkeeper, emerging from the shadows beneath the entity’s veil as a new, empty silver locket polished to a mirror shine.

The relic functions as a vessel for stolen identity. When the Vowkeeper presents the locket to Michiru, she briefly sees her own reflection in its surface—the version of herself that was always about to begin living, always waiting for the right moment, always trapped in “soon.” As her eyes meet that reflection, her identity begins to drain into the silver box. Her name, her face, and even the unfinished future she had preserved for herself are pulled into the locket. The artifact does not merely imprison a soul in the ordinary horror sense; it archives a life that was never fully lived.

Once the theft is complete, the Vowkeeper snaps the locket shut with a sound compared to a gunshot in the cathedral’s silence. That closure marks the end of Michiru’s unfinished existence. She does not die in a conventional sense. Instead, she becomes part of the Un-Place itself, her body hardening into gray stone and her form joining the architecture of abandoned vows and deferred lives.

Within the logic of the Un-Place, the silver locket represents more than a container. It is an indexing tool, a filing mechanism used by the Vowkeeper to reduce people into permanent records of hesitation. The relic turns procrastination, delay, and unrealized intention into something final.
