Auren Valec stands watch over the boundaries between places that were never meant to touch. Ancient gates, sealed realms, abandoned celestial roads, and fractures between worlds all fall within his attention, though he rarely intervenes unless something begins pressing against a boundary that should remain closed.
He is patient by nature and difficult to provoke. Auren does not mistake stillness for weakness, and he has spent long ages learning that most threats reveal themselves before they cross a threshold completely. He watches first, questions second.
His spear is less a weapon of conquest than a symbol of office, used to anchor unstable passages, mark forbidden crossings, and hold ruptures closed when the structure between realms begins to fail. When force is necessary, he uses it decisively, but never for display.
Auren’s greatest burden is that guarding a boundary often means choosing what must be left outside. Not every sealed thing is evil, and not every desperate traveler can be permitted through. He understands that mercy and protection do not always point in the same direction, and much of his duty lies in knowing which one must come first.
