The Water in the Hull refers to the strange water discovered in the returned boat during the events of Chapter 5.

Though it appeared at first to be ordinary water pooled in the hull, those who examined it quickly realized something was wrong. It did not move naturally with the rocking of the boat, did not spread as expected when spilled, and seemed to hold itself with an unsettling stillness.

Because of this, the water became one of the clearest physical traces left behind by the mystery surrounding the Horned Queen. It was not simply a sign that the boat had been at sea. It was evidence that something had returned with it.

In later accounts, the water is remembered less as an object and more as an omen: a small, impossible sample of a larger presence no one in the harbor could fully explain.
