Ren's Notebook

Ren Akiyama’s black notebook is the central artifact of All the Lives I Loved You, an emotional time-loop romance about memory, second chances, and the limits of trying to recreate a lost future.

After waking at twenty-one with fourteen years of marriage to Hana Mori still intact in his mind, Ren begins recording what happens each time his life resets. The notebook fills with dates, favorite places, failed conversations, crossed-out plans, and tallies of lives that end before he can truly reach her. At first, he believes the entries will help him rebuild the relationship he remembers. If he can remember the right coffee, the right joke, the right timing, perhaps he can find his way back to Hana.

Instead, the notebook slowly reveals the opposite. Hana changes from life to life. A detail that mattered once may mean nothing in another version of the year. The more Ren writes, measures, and compares, the clearer it becomes that memory cannot tell him who Hana will be now.

By the time Ren finally stops treating their relationship as a problem to solve, the notebook has become a record of every version of love he tried to control—and the person he had to stop being before their future could continue.
