Bunny's Damaged Flight Recorder

Bunny’s damaged flight recorder is a battered piece of evidence from the military operation Jax Mercer has spent years refusing to discuss. It first appears in Chapter 4, “Unknown Sender,” when Bunny calls Jax for help from an abandoned freight-transfer station being searched by armed pursuers.

Bunny has pulled the recorder from a wreck that somebody powerful expected to remain untouched. The compact unit is scorched, scraped, and partially corrupted, but its surviving data references the same restricted corridor and convoy connected to Jax’s wartime past. It is not a complete answer. Like the Eden Disk, it contains fragments—coordinates without context, records someone tried to bury rather than destroy.

The recorder also changes what the crew understands about the danger around them. Kessler Dynamics is not merely trying to reclaim old salvage or silence scavengers who entered a restricted graveyard. The company is actively hunting anyone who recovers proof of the old operation and the colonial route hidden beneath it.

For Bunny, the flight recorder is the reason he is being hunted. For Jax, it is a physical reminder of the people and decisions he left behind. Once Rin combines its surviving data with the Eden Disk and other recovered records, the crew has enough evidence to confirm that Viridia-9 was real—and that its disappearance was never an accident.
